Having graced television screens for nearly 15 years and spanned an impressive 19 series – or ‘seasons’ for our friends across the pond – the BAFTA-winning TV gameshow A League of Their Own is nothing short of a British institution. So when Sky asked us to bring an out-of-this-world twist to one of the show’s challenges, it’s no exaggeration to say we jumped at the chance.
The premise was simple: to push Jamie Redknapp, Jill Scott and Micah Richards’ nerve to the limit by holding their hard-earned football medals hostage at an altitude of over 120,000 feet. If each celebrity correctly answers a simple question about their career, their precious keepsakes will be returned safely to Earth. If they answer incorrectly, however, their medals will be jettisoned into the depths of space forever… a forfeit as cruel as it is hilarious.

Sky’s wish was our command; we built a bespoke carbon-fibre spacecraft that could survive freezing temperatures and near-zero pressures, mounted the footballers’ medals onto it and launched it into the extremes of space – with onboard cameras capturing the entire journey in high definition.

A rather nifty satellite uplink allowed us to communicate with the craft throughout its spaceflight and ultimately activate the ejection mechanism to propel Jamie’s beloved medal into the void – poor guy. Check out the hilarious footage, it’s well worth a watch!
