MISSION

Get fans excited for the upcoming Disney Pixar film by sharing fan tweets in space

Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios are known for their groundbreaking animation and innovative storytelling. To promote the Toy Story spin-off film Lightyear, starring Chris Evans, Disney wanted to showcase #Lightyear fan tweets from 100,000 feet above the Earth.

EXECUTION

We constructed a purpose-built Lightyear spacecraft, fitted with a digital display modified to operate in the harsh conditions of space. On a sunny day in spring, we launched the Lightyear spacecraft from our UK launch site.

With a spectacular view of our planet serving as a backdrop, we shared exclusive promotional material for the feature film, followed by an array of tweets from Lightyear fans across the world. The craft’s journey was captured with both a 360° panoramic camera and a stationary 4K camera in order to capture incredible views of the digital display as well as the exterior of a branded spacecraft, adorned with images of Buzz and his robotic companion, Sox the cat.

To supplement the space footage and on-screen tweets, we compiled an array of BTS shots and footage, showcased alongside take-off scenes and various other clips from the film’s trailer to mirror the sci-fi heart of the action-adventure movie.
